We are sad to report the death on Saturday 6th November of Peter Huijbregts.
"Peter was a physical therapist of Dutch origin but for many years based in British Columbia, Canada. To me, he epitomised a modern, scientific and forward thinking manual therapist, and a fantastic human being. I first met him in Vancouver in 2007. I had been communicating with him regarding some work related to the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapeutics, for which he was editor, for some months prior to this. I was immediately taken with Peter's support, encouragement, warmth and love for his work, family and Canada. He was really proud that WCPT was in his home state, and went out of his way to welcome me, and many others, to British Columbia. As a manual therapist, his worked always remained clinical. However, he authored numerous book chapters, over 40 articles, and his own book on myofascial trigger points, with Jan Dommerholt. He also has a, now posthumous, book yet to be realised on the evidence for neck and arm pain, written with Cesar Fernandez-de-las-Penas and Josh Cleland. He was editor for JMMT between 2004 and 2007, and also edited the Current Topics in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine series, in addition to various other journal appointments. He gained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2001 and held an Assistant Professor post at the University of St Augustine since 2002. His clinical work continued in practices throughout British Columbia. Peter Huijbregts was a great physical therapist. Peter was 44 years old and died in his sleep on Saturday 6th November 2010".
