May 2020 Touchnote - Seeking new ARMA Trustee
27 May 2020
New ARMA Trustee:
The MACP is seeking a member that we could nominate to work with ARMA as a Trustee.
The Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) is seeking to expand its trustee board to bring in people from different professional backgrounds. This is the ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to gain experience of serving at board level with an interest in improving health services for people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
The ideal trustees will have a business or fundraising background to complement our existing board’s strengths in health provision and charity management.
We seek to diversify the experience of our trustee board by co-opting two trustees. ARMA Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term and after that are eligible to stand for a further three-year term. This is an unpaid honorary post. Board meetings take place on a quarterly basis and you will be expected to give your time for 4 meetings. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed. You must also be willing to provide advice on an ad hoc basis and serve on sub committees as appropriate.
If you would like to join the ARMA Board and think you have the appropriate skills and expertise, please contact us for more information or for an informal conversation. Please telephone 020 3856 1977 or email projects@arma.uk.net.
Ruth Sephton – MACP member and current Trustee:
‘I have been a Trustee of ARMA now for two years. I would really recommend considering this opportunity to be part of a group whose aim is to improve musculoskeletal health and the care for people with musculoskeletal conditions. As a Trustee of ARMA I have been introduced to many organisations and gained insight into how musculoskeletal professional and charitable groups can work together effectively to achieve results. It is a great opportunity for professional development; I have gained knowledge and skills in areas including the role of different third sector organisations in musculoskeletal care and how to operate as a charitable Board Trustee. As a minimum the role involves four meetings a year (three of these are virtual), however Trustees undertake additional work for the charity between meetings.
If anyone would like to discuss the role further please email Katie at the MACP who will forward your details. administration@macpweb.org.
