Nicola Heneghan is a highly specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist who whilst practising clinically concurrently holds academic posts at the Universities of Birmingham and Hertfordshire. Nicola has considerable expertise in clinical practice, postgraduate education and research in musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice and education. Nicola’s research interests centre on musculoskeletal complaints, postgraduate education, spinal surgery and elite sport. Nicola has published >100 articles, written several book chapters, given key notes at national and international conferences and has a long standing association with The English Institute of Sport. She has supported >200 physiotherapists to successful completion of postgraduate degrees (MSc, MRes and PhD). Nicola has been active in the MACP for many years and held a number of key positions, including Education Lead, IFOMPT MO representative, Vice Chair and Honorary Chair. She was awarded a Fellowship to the MACP in 2020 in recognition of her contribution to education and furthering the strategic aims of the organisation.
