The MACP research committee aims to support research in the field of neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy, and promote research-related activities.

Criteria for Applications

Applications will be considered from physiotherapists who are full members of the MACP. Applications should be for one or more of the activities below:

  • Expenditure for the development and undertaking of research eg Research equipment, Research software, Research tools eg questionnaires
  • Backfill to cover research activities
  • Contribution to MRes or PhD course fees
  • Disseminating research to the general public.
  • Courses that support research
  • Contribution to open access publication costs

Retrospective applications will not be considered.

Preference will be given to applications that address and support current research priorities. (eg see Versus Arthritis https://www.versusarthritis.org/research/introducing-our-research-strategy/ and CSP https://www.csp.org.uk/system/files/top_ten_questions.pdf )

Applicants will be required to complete a 1500-word supporting statement indicating how the award meets the above criteria.

Evaluation of Applications

  • Applications will be assessed by the MACP Research Committee in consultation with external assessors where appropriate.
  • Decisions will normally be conveyed in writing to the applicant within 6 weeks of the deadline.
  • The decision of the Research Committee will be final and no correspondence with the applicant will be entered into.
  • The awards will be announced at the MACP AGM, where the successful applicant (or a nominated representative) will be presented with the award.

Conditions of the Award

  • Any publications, posters, or press releases that relate to work supported by the award should acknowledge the MACP.

  • The successful applicant will be required to produce a 1500-word report, which will be uploaded to the MACP website and sent out on twitter, within three months of completing the period of study.

In addition, the candidate will be expected to produce the following outputs:

  • A presentation and/or podcast, OR abstract/poster/publication
  • Provide evidence of mentorship (within a 12-month period) for other members wishing to apply for this award where appropriate.

 

Any awardees not meeting these requirements will be required to reimburse the MACP for the full amount of the award.
